The Lavena Coastal Walk is one of the best experiences on Taveuni Island and is part of the Bouma National Heritage Park. It is a full day excursion from The Remote Resort, starting with a 30 minute boat ride to Taveuni Island and then 1.5 hour car ride to the eastern tip of Taveuni Island (past the airport).

The Lavena Coastal Walk is 5km each way and begins at Lavena village. From the villa the walk follows the forest edge along the beautiful white sand of Lavena Beach, then a volcanic black-sand beach before winding up into the forests. It is a long, yet leisurely walk considered moderate in difficulty (more so in Fiji’s summer months November - March when rainfall can make conditions slippery).

Please note there are no bathrooms once you leave the trail entrance so it is best to year your swimwear under your clothes as there is no private changing areas.

Some guests prefer to only walk one length of the Lavena Coastal Walk and boat the other way. This also allows you to see the waterfall that falls into the ocean (only accessible by boat). There is additional cost associated with the boat and the boat portion needs to be timed with high tide so contact us if you’d like help to plan this during your stay,
