Balance Payment for direct bookings:
Per our booking terms and conditions, the balance payment for your stay will be charged to the same card used for your deposit 60 days prior to your check in date. If you'd prefer to make your balance payment by wire transfer instead of credit card just email us for our bank account details (USD, AUD or FJD). Please contact us prior to this if you'd like to change your credit card details for this payment.
Car and Boat transfers to the resort:
If you haven't already done so, please email us your domestic flight arrival and departure details for Taveuni or Savusavu if you would like to book the resort car and boat transfers. Car and boat transfers through the resort must be booked at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a smooth arrival. We will arrange our local driver (Sepo in Taveuni or Bobby in Savusavu) to meet you when you land. Travel time to the resort from Taveuni airport is 20 minutes by car, followed by 30 minutes by boat. Travel time to the resort from Savusavu airport is 1 hour by car (on partly unsealed road), followed by 15 minutes by boat. No need to pay anyone along the way and tipping is neither expected nor required in Fiji. Don’t worry Taveuni and Savusavu are very small airports so we won’t miss you but should you need to contact us enroute please note the Resort Manager phone +679 830 7909.
We value knowing a little more about you to best plan for your stay. If you haven't already done so, please feel free to email us with any special dietary preferences or other items you’d like us to note email@example.com
There is no need to book any of the experiences offered by The Remote Resort in advance (except weddings or renewal of vow ceremonies). The Hidden Beach experience is only offered to one villa per day to ensure privacy so if you have a specific date you would like to book this please email us in advance. The timing of the Hidden Beach experience can be adjusted upon request (subject to boat/captain availability).
If you are planning to dive the beautiful Rainbow Reef we do recommend making dive bookings in advance to ensure space is reserved for you on the dive boats. We recommend either Taveuni Ocean Sports or Dive Academy Fiji for diving.
What to Bring:
We recommend bringing ‘wet’ shoes such as flip flops, crocs (suitable for wearing in the water), these are handy for wearing on the boats. We also recommend old hiking shoes/sneakers (some of the hiking can be quite muddy).
Insect repellant (aeroguard brand) is provided complimentary at the resort but if you have a personal preference for alternate brand then please plan to bring this with you
Sunscreen, as well as all of the usual holiday items (hat, camera, etc) and all medical items you may require (there is no pharmacy nearby)
There is no need to bring a hairdryer (one in each villa) or beach towels.
There is a travel adaptor to convert from USA to AUS/NZ plug in each villa. If you have a lot of devices that you may want to use/charge at the same time you may like to bring extras (usually easy to pick these up at the airport or pharmacy).
We have complimentary snorkel gear (adult sizes only) but if you have your own favourites then you are welcome to bring those.
Dress at The Remote Resort is casual. Light fabrics, golf shirts, short-sleeve shirts, summer dresses, sandals, t-shirts and shorts are all good bets. Bring a sweater or wrap for the winter months (June - August) and also useful for outdoor dining in the evenings.
Phone and Internet:
We offer complimentary wifi in the Main Pavilion at The Remote Resort. Unfortunately the internet in Fiji is not as fast and reliable as more developed parts of the world. Access to the internet may be slow, intermittent and not available from time to time. We generally have good cell phone coverage at the resort and there is a mobile phone in your villa for you to contact any members of the resort team at any time.
Payments at the resort:
We are a cashless resort and are unable to provide change or currency conversion as there are no banks nearby. Anything purchased at the resort can be added to your folio and settled with credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard or American Express (sorry no Discover). We do not charge any credit card fees. Credit card payments at the resort will be converted from USD to FJD using the rate of the day on xe.com before charging your credit card as all credit card charges in Fiji are required to be in FJD.
Tipping is not required or expected in Fiji. If desired by guests most resorts (including ours) will collect and distribute tips to staff as part of the Staff Christmas Fund.
We offer a complimentary weekly village visit to a remote village. Guests are not expected nor required to make a donation or purchase anything while at the village, we provide a weekly donation to the village for this visit and complimentary boat transfers for our guests. For guests who would like to make a village donation or a purchase of souvenirs at the village please plan to do so in cash directly at the village as we are not able to add such payments to your folio at the resort. When visiting villages modest dress is appropriate and women must cover their shoulders and knees. All persons must please remove their hats and sunglasses upon entering the village in respect of village customs.
Please remember that unless your international flight was booked all the way through to Taveuni or Savusavu that your luggage allowance on the domestic flight will be 15kg per person. The charge for excess baggage is usually around FJD$8 per kilo. We recommend packing your essentials and a change of clothes as well as your swimmers in your carry-on luggage just in case your luggage should be delayed (very rare) so that you can carry on enjoying your holiday.
We very strongly recommend travel insurance for your travel to the Fiji Islands.
